The bands Paramore and Tegan and Sara were once relatively unknown with a small, but loyal following; but in recent years, their fan-bases have grown to millions of listeners. This was evident at their concert this past Friday, as the 6,350 seat Verizon Theater was practically full.
The Honda Civic Tour comes to Dallas once every year, bringing along with it big name bands and a few custom Honda Civics to give away to lucky winners. As I walked towards the big arena with dozens of other people, I could feel the excitement.
Soon after we took our seats, the stadium went black and the strum of the guitar from Tegan and Sara’s ‘Walking With A Ghost’ began and the crowd went wild.
Tegan and Sara played songs from all three of their recent albums, ‘So Jealous’, ‘The Con’, and ‘Sainthood’, performing each and every song with strongly delivered vocals and perfected guitar tunes.
But Paramore stole the show, opening their set with the fast paced ‘Ignorance.’ The crowd knew all the lyrics, singing loudly along with Hayley Williams, the firey red-haired lead singer.
Paramore’s set included songs from all three of their albums, ‘All We Know Is Falling’, ‘Riot’, and their new CD ‘Brand New Eyes’, leading to a triple encore.
Both bands provided a different experience for the concert-goers, with Tegan and Sara providing a more mellow set and Paramore blowing away the crowd and bringing the energy. Nonetheless, they were both fantastic performers and if you ever get the chance, I would recommend going to see them.
