Students React: Child Stars Gone Wrong

We love them, we adore them, we grow up with them; until they change. Child stars are some of the most celebrated stars in Hollywood due to their large fan base and incredible talent, however, it almost seems as if once they reach their peak they all tend to fall on a path that none of us bargained for.

“I think teen stars like Justin started being unruly and defiant due to the quick forgiveness of their fans whenever they do something they know they shouldn’t be doing,” sophomore Jaylen Finney said.

Amanda Bynes is famous TV star from the early 2000s who disappeared from the limelight for a few years. In 2013 she was  hospitalized due to numerous mental breakdowns and drug addictions that landed her at the UCLA Medical Center.

“It’s very stupid that they are looking for attention even though we [fans] make them more popular and still look up to them even though they are a bad influence,” junior Tracey Anyango said.

Macaulay Culkin, the beloved main actor in the classic family movies, such as Home Alone and Richie Rich have spiraled into drug addictions that has even distorted his facial structure. His other two brothers, Kieran and Rory who are both actors, have steered clear off his path. He only resurfaced due to recent pictures that were in the media.

“The fact is that they’ve gotten everything they wanted since they were little. There’s no discipline in their lives. There’s no one to tell them to stop and behave,” said sophomore Kyrstin Linex. “To them it’s just something to get everyone’s attention. They’re attention seekers.”

Miley Cyrus is climbing up the chain of fame with her shocking tactics that caused controversy since her hit show Hannah Montana went off the air. Her new image has been involved in revealing clothing choices and the controversy of her dancing and twerking in the 2013 Video Music Awards.

“She knows what she is doing so no one can say that it is on accident and it’s as if  she has her whole plan so that she can stay on top and not be forgotten,” sophomore Kelly Camryn said.

Last but not least, Lindsay Lohan has now become a household name from her spur of drug addictions and relapses that has made her a reoccurring discussion topic on wild celebrities. She openly admitted to being a drug addict on Oprah’s Show twice, but still leaves people unsure of whether she will relapse once more.

“The thing with Lindsay is that she always says that she will quit, but the next day or month she’s back at it again,” sophomore Camryn said. “It’s as if she is a binge drug addict she goes up and spirals back down when we least expect it.”

Either way, we can’t seem to stop our generation’s leaders from trying new things or exploring, but their influence creates a bad representation and image of who we are going to be or what we are going to end up like .
