Members of JROTC learn about their fundraiser.

Starting January 28, the cadets of the JROTC are having a fundraiser to raise money to cover some of their expenses.

“Our JROTC is the only JROTC in the country where all of our cadets are in the full blue uniform,” JROTC instructor SGT Watkins said. “Other JROTCs usually have their first years in the green uniform and then their second years get the blue.”

Each full blue uniform costs the JROTC $225 and there are currently 113 cadets.

“Our JROTC has set an example for all other JROTCs in the country,” Watkins said. “We get funding from the city but we have to raise the rest ourselves.”

In order to achieve the $4200 they need to keep setting a prime example the JROTC is having a fundraiser. All of the funds will go towards the uniforms and other events that they hold.

“The cadets will carry around the order forms and at this time they are only taking orders from people,” Century Resources Territory Sales Representatives Kim Folkes said.

The cadets will receive the items that they will be selling on March 3 and that is also when customers will pay for whatever they ordered.

“They will be selling various things from sausages to cheese and crackers to different flavored fudges and chocolate treats.” Folkes said.

They also will be selling streusel, blackberry cobbler candy corn, a slow cooker recipe book, various different flavors of cookie dough, playtime cookie dough, different flavored cheesecakes, including a cheesecake platter, cinnamon rolls, cake rolls, and lava cakes.

“People can also order online where there is a wider selection to pick from and the items will be shipped to your door.” Folkes said.

The online website is www.helpourgroup.com and the group ID is 10672. Orders both online and in person can be taken until February 10. The last day money orders can be given is March 6.
