Courtney Swearingen – Co-Editor-in-Chief

Courtney is an insightful thinker and a free-spirited soul. She is the president of the club Vocations In Peace and is the co Editor-in-Chief of the Uproar.  She lends her hand to others in need, and is always willing to listen. While setting out on her notorious drives she is greeted by the music of  Radiohead and the Avett Brothers seeping out of the speakers. When Courtney is at home you can find her in her room  listening to her records and  enjoying the scent of incense burning. Her favorite album is  Harvest by Neil Young. While walking in a Tulsa airport, she had a fortuitous encounter with the Hanson Brothers.  “When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained,” is her favorite quote by the respectable Mark Twain.

Emily Carrell – Staff Writer

Emily Carrell is a junior.  She adores Bailey, her golden retriever, who serves as her only sibling.  She is a dancer at Dance Workshop in Arlington and has taken classes there since she was four years old.  Aside from writing for the Uproar, she is also involved in Key Club and National Honor Society.

Jessica Stewart – Senior Staff Writer

Jessica is pumped to be a part pf the Uproar staff this year. When she’s not on stage rockin’ a solo or a monologue, she would prefer to be in front of a computer writing, watching the 2010 Spring Collection of Marc Jacobs fashion show or, video chatting on Skype. Jessica loves traveling to big citites and jamming to sweet tunes when school is not taking over her life. She also enjoys eating Mexican food with her parents on the weekends.

Mitchell Malone bio

Mitchell Malone is a happy senior who enjoys playing basketball and chilling at the crib. He is new to this school, and is enjoying it so far. Mitchell plays varsity basketball so be looking for him on the court. He is very quiet but he can be really funny and outgoing if you get to know him. He is a big mama’s boy – he loves her to death. Mitchell’s favorite place to eat is Olive Garden. He loves Italian food.

Derrick Odom – Staff Writer

Derrick Odom is a senior. He is a very impressive staff writer for the very prestigious Uproar. He plans on attending the University of North Texas next fall. Derrick is just your average guy who works at Jamba Juice, works out twice a week at the local 24-Hour Fitness, and likes music and movies. Past the outer layer of rebellion, anarchy, mass amounts of knowledge, sarcasm, and spunk, you’ll find a man, a man who is ready to break out of the shell of youth. Derrick’s first attempt at this, is to grow his first beard.

Messhia Young – Staff Writer

Around 17 years ago, an amazingly magnanimous person was born. Her parents named her Messhia. In her nearly 17 years of life, Messhia Young hasn’t grown to be very tall. She takes rigorous classes and has learned to play a few instruments well. She doesn’t have any pets. Messhia likes to eat broccoli, pomegranates, blueberries, and starfruit. She also enjoys Academic Decathlon and playing the piano. Messhia detests morons, busy work, and the concept of obligatory carnivorism.

Sabrine Al-Barghuthi – Managing Editor

Sabrine Al-Barghuthi, junior, has about 17 years of experience under her belt, and she doesn’t even wear belts. Sabrine is ready to graduate high school so she can attend the University of Toronto in Canada and major in social psychology with a minor in international relations.  She hopes to write a novel sometime in her life, and live in Italy once she graduates college. I guess you could say she loves the world outside of Mansfield, but for now, she’s here to stay.

Kristian Sebree, staff writer

Kristian Sebree, most commonly described as a fine young man, has his whole life ahead of him. As this may seem ambitious, he doesn’t actually know what this time has in store for him. He is not even sure of what college he would like to attend, however he does know he would like to have a career that involves writing and would someday like to leave the United States.

Brittany Anderson – Staff Writer

Brittany is an outgoing and optimistic senior who is rarely serious and is always trying to make people laugh. She believes her purpose in life is to make others happy. She is always smiling. She loves music and going to concerts but is a terrible singer. In her spare time she can be found playing Animal Crossing or hanging out with her friends. She is a loyal Rugrats fan and wishes she could watch 90’s Nickelodeon cartoons all day. Her biggest pet peeves are when people spit in her sink without the water on or throw stuff at her fan. She works at Jimmy John’s in Mansfield as a cashier and occasionally as sandwich artist. She plans on continuing her schooling next year at UTA and majoring in early childhood education. This is her first year on newspaper staff.

Brittney Gossett, Staff Writer

Brittney Gossett spelled backwards is AMAZING. If you don’t believe her, look it up in a dictionary. She enjoys long walks through Mansfield, grape juice, and hanging out with her friends. Oh, and if you ever need someone to go thrift shopping with, she’s your gal. Brittney likes to participate in as many activities as she can, and as a result has no life on occasion. She likes to keep herself busy, whether it be looking up weird recipes online, reading, painting, or altering clothes (that she bought in a thrift store.) She is a part of Mansfield theatre, oral interpretation, NHS, and now newspaper, so she considers herself a very well-rounded person. She’s fun and easy-going. Her favorite movie is Tommy Boy. And she wears a suit on almost a weekly basis. She wishes to work at Half-Priced Books and figure out where she wants to go to college.

Andrea Barr, co-Editor-In-Chief

Andrea Barr, senior, is the Uproar’s co-editor-in-chief (along with Courtney Swearingen). She has high hopes of going to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn next fall, and wants to someday join the Peace Corps. She loves taking road trips with friends to unknown places and meeting strange people. One of her many favorite Einstein quotes is: “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”
