Changes To ID Policy Enforcement

The beginning of second semester students will have more than a few new classes. The administration will also start enforcing the ID policy a little differently.

“Students continually fail to abide by the district’s ID policy and so we are adjusting the policy”, said assistant principal Dion Varnado.

The current ID policy states that students must have an ID or a temporary ID on above the waist at all times during the school day. But because of the number of forgetful students, the consequences for forgetting an ID will be changed..

When a student forgets their ID they will no longer be assigned a temporary. Students will go to the bookkeeper to pay for a new ID. If the student is unable to pay for the ID the $5.00 fee will go on their fine list until it is paid for. The student will then take their receipt to their assigned principal and get a new ID made.

“A lot of kids would be hurting in the cash-flow area, we’re kids, we just forget things,” said senior Spencer Hopkins. A majority of students would admit to forgetting their ID’s at least once, but there is a handful of students who do not have a problem remembering their ID at all.

“I think the new policy is fine, I always have my ID. They really should start rewarding kids who have their ID’s,” said senior Lauren Southard.
