After a tough loss to Keller last month, the Mansfield Varsity hockey team has rebounded with three breezy wins against division rivals Grapevine, the Arlington Wild, and non-division opponent Prosper. Here is the recap:
November 11th against Keller:
After gaining a early lead against Keller, Mansfield let it slip away late. Goals from Bryce Claxton, Tanner Woody, and Joshua Allen with assists from Joshua Allen, Andrew Rodrigues, and Bryce Claxton led the way. Unfourtunately, this loss put Mansfield put of first place.
November 18th against Grapevine
This game was the start of a three game winning streak. Goals by Spencer Ericksen, Joshua Allen, T.J. Brown, Hunter Woody in the 2nd period sealed the deal early. Hunter Woody, the star of the game had two more goals in the 3rd period along with another goal by Joshua Allen.
November 23rd against Arlington Wild
Right before Thanksgiving Day, Mansfield continued on their win streak with a win against the Arlington Wild. Garrett Weitzel had a goal and an assist. Hunter Woody and Scott Ericksen each had two goals and an assist. Chandler Davis also contributed with a goal and four other people had an assist.
December 2nd against Prosper
Mansfield’s third straight win came against a struggling Prosper team. Team captain Hunter Woody had three goals and two assists in an 8-4 win. Four other players scored goals and five others had asssists including Joshua Allen’s two goals and two assists.
The Mansfield Hockey team has an 8-3 record and is currently in third place behind Arlington and Keller after a 12-8 victory over Richardson/Rockwall. This is their fourth straight victory. Joshua Allen had four goals and three assists. Hunter Woody had two goals and three assists. Four other players scored goals and four other had asssists including Garrett Weitzel’s one goal and one assist.
Next week, Mansfield will be on the road against McKinney at McKinney next Thursday at 7:15 pm.
