With more and more students dating this year, Valentine’s Day will become more widely celebrated. The more students that celebrate Valentine’s Day, the more students will use PDA.
“I have a boyfriend, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to do PDA. I see so many couples doing it, and I really wished they didn’t; I personally think it is nasty,” Junior, Lauren Hasley said.
Another problem students have with Valentine’s Day is being single. Valentine’s Day is a day of love, and students who are not in a relationship often feel left out. However, sophomore, Allison Frizzel, has plans to not get that feeling this Valentine’s Day.
“Even though I don’t have a boyfriend, I’m not going to let that ruin my Valentines day,” Frizzel said. “I usually spend Valentine’s Day with friends. We try to go out and have a girl’s night with as many of us that don’t have boyfriends. It really makes being single on Valentine’s Day pretty fun, and not that big of a deal.”
On the other hand students who are not single have problems on Valentine’s Day as well. One problem many dating students have on Valentine’s Day is the price of gifts.
“I usually try to spend anywhere from ten to twenty dollars on someone. If we’ve been dating for awhile it’s usually more like twenty, but if it’s one of those things were we got together just to not be alone on Valentine’s Day, then I’ll only spend ten. That way you’re not being cheap, but your not wasting all your money either,” Freshman, Johnathan Husch said.
Whether you’re single or taken, Valentine’s Day is a day to show appreciation of all those you love.
“To me Valentine’s Day isn’t just about being in a relationship, but it’s about your friendships too,” Junior, Caroline Troutman said.
