Tigers don’t spare a moment anticipating the start of the new MHS bowling team.

“I used to run a bowling team at my old school and the kids really enjoyed it, so I thought it would be fun to start one here at Mansfield High School,” coach Marcia Kloempken said.

Team member and senior Maegan Stewart plays to have a good time rather than for the competition of the game, due to her lack of experience.

“The tryouts were probably the first time I had bowled in 10 years.” Stewart said.

Junior Ashley Ingram has had experience bowling with her mom, who used to participate in tournaments.

“We used to go every weekend and I just got so into it; so when I found out that Mansfield finally had a team I was so excited,” junior Ashley Ingram said.

Even with the varying amounts of experience, team members look positively at the future of the team.

“We have a few naturally good players and a lot of potential. Everyone is really positive from what I’ve seen and we do our best to help each other out which makes it a lot of fun,” Stewart said.

Starting out, the team sees room for improvement and what can be looked forward to during the season.

“Games against other schools don’t start until December, so we have plenty of time to practice,” Ingram said.

Although team members hope to bowl well against the other schools, they see the game as more of a way to have fun and meet new people.

“I don’t think we will be very competitive against other schools, but I think we have potential and that we are all going to have a great time,” Kloempken said.
