“It’s not every day that a country celebrates its 50th anniversary of independence,” said senior, Anjola Coker.
October 1 is Nigeria’s Independence Day. This day marks when Nigeria got its independence from the United Kingdom in 1960.
Today, Coker and other MHS students of Nigerian heritage are celebrating by wearing traditional nigerian attire. These students wanted to be original today, so they decided to show their pride for Nigeria through their clothing.
“I was born in Nigeria, and lived there for 9 years, so it feels right to represent the country I was born in.” said Coker.
