District Art Show

Last week was the 2011 District Art Show. Students across Mansfield ISD were able to take part in the event through sculptures, drawings, and photographs of their own invention. The pieces were judged and then showcased for friends and family to view.

Many Mansfield HS students participated and were excited to showcase the creations they have been working on throughout the year. For many students, art is a medium for showing their true selves and illustrating their feelings. Junior Nick Gravois is in Art 3 and has enjoyed the experiences he has had in art.

“It’s a good way to express yourself, and it’s a fun class,” Gravois said.

For many, art is a passion that comes naturally and can not be explained. Senior Sydney Jordan was unsure how to describe her feelings towards art, but decided that painting gives her a voice that shows others who she is.

“I think art is an expression of who you are,” Jordan said, “It allows you to get out feelings that maybe you wouldn’t otherwise be able to show.”

The show was a great representation of students’ creativity and emotions. There were many fabulous pieces in the show, and being a part of the exhibition gave students a sense of pride.

“I was in the VASE show too, and it was interesting and cool to be there,” Gravois said, “[Being a part of the show] makes me feel pretty good, accomplished.”

It was a great show, with some amazing works of art. Participating art students should be proud to have been a part of this event.
