AP Testing

The highly-anticipated AP Testing began May 2, continuing until Friday, May 13th. Many people stress about these tests, especially people who are taking them for the first time.

“Don’t freak out about it,” senior Sooyeon Kim said. “They can’t hurt you; they can only help you.”

Kim is one of many students at Mansfield High who have taken several AP tests. These tests are given by the College Board and, if they are passed, the student is given three hours of college credit in the course.

“The AP tests have made me more prepared for college,” senior Katelyn Bridges said.

Many first time test takers, though, are wondering how to prepare for the tests and the universal answer was to study. Most of the AP tests have a companion guide book to the course, which has practice tests, essays, and information that could be on the test.

“I probably wouldn’t have done very well if I hadn’t of studied,” Bridges said.

Students have been practicing for months in order to be successful.

“To prepare my students we will do practice tests, essays, and also review material from the previous year,” Jason Speakes, an AP World History teacher, said.
