Trump Inauguration: For

“We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again.” –Donald J. Trump

I am a Trump supporter, which makes many people turn their heads and question my sanity. But despite public opinion, I support Trump for many reasons. Before I dive into why I support him, I first want to debunk some misconceptions about Donald Trump. First, he is not a racist. I know– call me crazy, but he really isn’t. According to Google a racist is “a person who believes that a particular race is superior to another.” Trump was awarded the Ellis Island Award alongside Muhammad Ali and Rosa Parks on October 27th, 1986. The award is given to an individual who exhibits patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood, and diversity. No one accused Donald Trump of being a racist until he decided to run for president and became a threat to Hillary Clinton’s return to power. Second, he isn’t sexist. According to Michael Cohen, the General Counsel at the Trump Organization, “There are more female executives at the Trump Organization than there is male. And women who are similarly situated in positions similar to that of their male counterparts, are actually paid more.” Many of Trumps comments towards women have been twisted by the media. Lastly, Donald Trump gave up his billionaire lifestyle to have his name disrespected and spat on just to help our country. He has said in the past he didn’t want to run and hoped there would be someone who could do our country good and help, but if they really needed him to run, he would.

Trump, as simple as it sounds, wants to Make America Great Again. On January 20th, inauguration day, I was looking forward to Trump’s presidency for a handful of reasons, one being a decrease in political correctness. In George Carlin’s words, “Political correctness is America’s newest form of intolerance, and it is especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance. It presents itself as fairness, yet attempts to restrict and control people’s language with strict codes and rigid rules. I’m not sure that’s the best way to fight discrimination. I’m not sure silencing people or forcing them to alter their speech is the best method for solving problems that go much deeper than speech.” Political correctness is a distasteful, unattractive form of language that makes everyone bite their tongues just so they don’t accidently offend someone. Meet a young man in the halls, ‘Oh no! Don’t say male you don’t know what they identify as!’ and don’t forget to use their preferred pronouns or you might belittle them. Don’t say blind say visually impaired that way they feel better. Donald Trump doesn’t care for political correctness and I hope that mentality catches on throughout the nation.

Next, is his hand in bringing more jobs to America. Trump recently stated that the Department of Energy has released a report that anticipates the addition of 198,000 new jobs in the energy efficiency sector for 2017. Not only that, but the Ford truck company is canceling plans to build a new plant in Mexico. It will instead invest $700 million in Michigan, creating 700 new U.S. jobs, and Trump isn’t even in office yet. The President has also stated that he will be “draining the swamp” which means he will attempt to stop any form of corruption in our U.S. government. He will do this by stopping lobbyists– people who take part in an organized attempt to influence legislators– by proposing a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of congress, a five-year ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government services, a lifetime ban on the White House lobbying on behalf of a foreign government, and a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for an American election. Not only that, but Donald Trump demands high performance and is a tough and experienced dealmaker. Trump is known for his phrase “You’re fired,” which can be translated to his will to accept nothing but success. Trump collaborated with journalist Tony Schwartz to write Trump: The Art of the Deal which helped turn him into a household name. Trump hopes to negotiate fair trade deals that create American jobs, increase American wages, and reduce American’s trade deficit.

Trump also plans to crack down on illegal immigrants attempting to enter our country. And yes, illegal aliens are a problem. Thirty percent of aliens are in federal, state and local prisons which costs the U.S. 1.6 billion dollars annually. The FBI states that there are 1.4 million gang members in the U.S., and illegals are the number one contributor to that statistic. On top of that, Mexican cartels make 6.6 billion U.S. dollars a year “exporting” illegal drugs to the U.S. Illegal immigrants are a problem and need to be dealt with, and Trump is planning to do as such.

In conclusion, I believe President Donald Trump will do a great job with his time in office. Whether you agree or not is totally up to you, but no matter what, you should support the man driving the ship instead of hoping he sinks it because we are all in this together all as Americans. I hope that you go out and do research for yourself about political issues in our nation. Don’t let people tell you you’re too young either, because politics are important, and in the long run affect us in the future. It is very important to be aware of the events taking place in our country.

“If we love our country, we should also love our countrymen.” –Ronald Reagan
