Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game that anyone can enjoy right now. It is a social simulation game on the Nintendo Switch. Because of the unfortunate state the world is in currently, this game came out at the perfect time to help relieve stress and have a good time with friends, all while practicing social distancing. There is no story to complete, no battles to face and no harsh challenges to overcome. Animal Crossing is all about building your own island paradise. You can customize and decorate your very own island, inhabited by in-game Villagers, each with their own personalities, that you can bond with as you play. The more you play, the more options become available to you for customization. The game encourages you to be creative, think outside the box and experience the game your way. There is always something new for you to do each day and the game encourages you to hop on and keep adding to your island with multiple daily events. You can also connect online and visit your friends’ islands, show off the things you’ve made, play games together and trade materials to encourage working together and expressing yourself. The only downside I can think of is a lot of options being limited while playing with friends, such as not being able to build while friends are visiting your island and long loading screens. But overall, the game is a perfect way to find joy, relax and have fun with the people you love while being stuck at home. The atmosphere of the game is calming and upbeat and I think anyone can have a good time delving into the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
