Senior Signs to Rose State University

Softball is a part of senior Lexus Gonzales’ livelihood. She has played outfield for her beloved sport since she was five years old and started competing in club competitions when she was nine years old.

“Lexus is a great leader and she works very hard,” assistant coach Judith McGill said. “She’s committed and she’s just a great player.”

When it comes to school, it is just as important as softball is to Gonzales.

“I have a schedule that helps me balance softball and school life,” said Gonzales. “I know what I have to do and when I have to do it.”

Gonzales is not in the only one in her family to partake in the baseball/softball experience.

“My dad played baseball in high school, so I guess my love for the sport grew from that,” Gonzales said.

Last year Gonzales helped her fellow teammates win first at districts which caught the eye of many recruiters.

“I signed at Rose State University in Oklahoma,” Gonzales said. “I went on a college visit there and when I went there the campus felt like home. It had a wonderful environment.”

Rose State University is a junior college located in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Rose State is organized around five divisions:  Business and Information Technology, Engineering and Science, Health Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

“I’m going to major in business management because it’s an open field so I can do a lot with my degree,” Gonzales said.

Come and support Gonzales and her fellow Lady Tigers at the next home game on April 14 at the softball pitch at 7:00 pm against the Desoto Eagles.
