Robotics club builds future

Coming off successful year, team looks to further improve

After placing nineteenth in the Texas Cup, the robotics team enters a new season for the 2021-2022 school year.

“The season will be launching soon in September,” Robotics sponsor Joshua Rhoades said. “The season is called Rapid Reaction. We will be competing again in a local tournament here in the area and then hopefully advancing again.”

Rhoades explains what it took to earn a spot at the Texas Cup, a state UIL competition hosted in San Antonio.

“This (was) our first time,” he said. “We had to qualify out of 50 North Texas teams in the top 15 to make it to the tournament.”

Rhoades encourages students to see what the club is all about.

“We’re looking for new members,” he said. “You don’t have to know how to build or program or anything like that. Anyone’s welcome to join.”

The robotics club meets on Monday and Wednesday until 4:30 in Rhoades’ classroom, D9.
